Usually when I think of TBs forelocks I think of medium length, thin and fine, horse forelocks but I bought one a few months ago and he has an long, very thick one (Picture above, but Im not sure how clear it is). I was just wondering if that was common in the breed and where it might have come from. Also, Im curious to know what others think of longer, fluffier forelocks.
Yeah, a little bit of a stupid question, but Im curious.
Oh my god, you have the cutest horse.
But yeah, good question. Ive seen some TBs with different builds with thicker forelocks, but then the more racing TBs with thin forelocks.
Im stalking this thread.
My 2 thoroughbreds have thin forelocks. I have never really seen a thoroughbred with a thick forelock.
My old purebred (regd) TB mare (pictured left) had a irly thick forelock, and her mane was very thick. It just depends on the genetics of the horse... just like people.. hair thickness can vary no matter what race you are.
Edit.. I just realized the picture doesnt show her forelock, its in a braid haha so youll just have to take my word for it.
Cute horse by the by :)
