Select colors of horsehair that complement each other. Both dyed and undyed horsehair work equally well for this project, and dyed horsehair is usually slightly more thin and soft. Children have an easier time braiding if the three strands are different colors.

Tie three strands together into a knot at one end. Separate each strand and lay it flat on the suce on which youre working. Ask someone to hold the knotted end or put it under a heavy object to hold it still.

Cross the right strand over the middle strand, then the left strand over the new middle strand. Repeat, pulling the strands snug each time so the braid is tight. Tie a knot at the end when the braid is finished.

Wrap the braid around the wrist of the person you are the bracelet key chain for and tie the two ends together so the hand has enough room to move in and out.
