Ok I have been going to buy a lse tail for my daughters pony for a while now.
What is the best brand and where should I look for one.
I have tried ebay and the like but havent found what Im after.
I was thinking either champion tails or supreme tails??
hey teags, found my tail on ebay, kept an eye on the site every couple of days, champion tails prices range from $150.00 up and supreme tails start at $140.00,
I have a problem finding the right colour. Most tails on ebay/online seem to be black or varying shades of chestnut.
Try Jocken3 on ebay. Not sure where you are but she lives in Qld and her daughter is in the Hawksbury area. I bought a tail off her and her daughter was able to show me heaps of tails in different lengths and shades to help me find one to match. The tail is excellent and I could not be happier with the services - they really will try to help you get one to match. Just dont ask where the tails come from - one of lifes mysteries that I wish had stayed that way!
Thanks for that Painted. Im sure I could use my imagination and guess but youre right I dont want to know....for sure
it also depends on what colour tail your horse has. my boy has a few coloured mixed in and there was no way he would be able to have a standard one so his previous owners sent off a tail sample and photos to champion tails and got a ntastic one that is perfect (that i then bought off them with the horse) so if you are going for something exact then i would reccommend champion tails
supreme tails.....i sent away a hair sample as my boy has mixed and she sent me what I wanted and she was really quick aswell
I bought a Champion Tails lse tail with the intention to dye it the right colour for my horse, and only about 1/4 of the tail absorbed the dye - which led me to discover that the tail was mostly synthetic hair. Very disappointed as these tails seem to be the most expensive on the market, and are made with predominantly synthetic hair!
Agree with Painted, get in contact with jocken3 on ebay, theyll be able to source you a tail in the colour and thickness that you want.
I got a beautiful lse tail for Elmo from Julie Thatcher at Supreme Tails. She used the hair I sent, cut from Elmos sister before she was PTS, false tails and used the sample of Elmos own hair (from the centre of his tail) to match up with darker hair.... and combined that with little Sarias (lighter) hair. The result is a beautiful tail that matches Elmos own very nicely, and with the added bonus that it incorporates the hair from his much-loved sister. So even though its 50% hair from a stranger, its half hair from one of our own mily.
Think of the origins of the hair like this - its a little part of that unknown horse, whoever he or she was, living on, and being appreciated. Thats how I got my brain around it.
Our tail is beautifully made - a different technique to Champion Tails - and Julie was very quick and pleasant to deal with.
Nicolette, my grey mare, had a Champion tail - I bought it pre-loved. It was slightly cream, against Nicolettes very white tail, but by the time the combination got a tiny bit of the inevitable competition venue dust involved, false tails it was a good match!,.
