False TailsTail extensions
The pic is taken off of a video clip, so not very good quality. Since then, someone copied over the tape I Had of that futurity, the only one, so not too happy about that! It was a two year old futurity that had 32 two year olds (we had split goes for the rail ) There was also a pattern and halter segment

Is it to keep the tail still? - reading about the weight to keep the tail still was interesting, I learn something new each day
As you can see, that switch is enough tail for her (tongue in cheek! ), and much easier to put in
I just have a switch for Smilie, and I like the loopWhat is a switch? __________________
Im buying a lse tail for my Paint mare, and I dont know what is better the loop or tie-in or slide? Any pics to show me the difference? __________________

I know nothing about showing, so forgive my ignorance, I have a question to ask, false tails if I may please?
I prefer ones with a loop. Every time you tie something you have a chance of something coming un-done. So a permanent loop is one less thing that is likely to ll out do to your error.

This website has several different tail extensions. What would be the most versatile and be most natural on the horse? __________________

No way would I alcohol block a tail, so I was told to just put in a tail and the weight would keep her tail quiet.

How thick is your horses tail naturally? That will help you decide if you want a full tail or just a switch. When Smilie was two, and I was riding her in that futurity that ll, she tended to use her tail just slightly, when I put a leg on her.
Fake tails/switches are used a lot across different arenas for looks sake. It help with the overal apperence of the horse and for diciplines like Hunters where the tail gets braided, it helps to re-add some fullness to it and makes the butt look nicer.

Is it for appearance sake? I cant understand this unless a horse has a particularly ratty tail.
I was at a show once and the handler backed her horse up, it stood on the tail and ripped it out, I was quite impressed with the handlers aplomb, she merely bent, picked it up, tucked it in her belt and carried on.

Since then, she is very good at not using her tail, and so I use the switch basically because it fills and evens out the bottom part of her tail.
I used to have a full tail for Smilie, with three grommets, but it was too much for her, since she has a nice False TailsTail extensionsthick tail of her own, plus was a pain to put in, so I sold it.
This pic shows her switch. She is waiting for her Hunter In Hand Class
To add to that, I do use a weighted tail extension in my horse. He likes to keep his tail up (not wringing, a weighted tail would not fix that), and being a quarter horse they dont want to see the tail raised like an Arabian lol. Its amazing how well it works, he keeps it a lot flatter, and its better than the alterntative of doing his tail, which is against show rules and can cause some huge problems, plus wont be able to swish flies! I am sure Red appreciates that.
I have never had a tail ll out when I have put it in. People need to be aware that the horse needs to be able to back up and not step on the tail!! __________________
