lse tails?? false horse tails ??????
The rider had made them and sewn them on (not well enough!!) as the pony had rubbed his mane the night before!!
Ive never used lse tails myself either - but might be tempted if I ever get Cirrus into a M&M class as his is short due to his SI - mind you the top looks like a neatly pulled tail so that wont go down well either!! :P
The tails arent actually lse-lse though, they are real horse hair.
They seem to be EXTREMELY popular among showies here in Australia. I thought I might buy a lot of them and sten them to Dennys tail to fool people into thinking shes a horse - from behind at least...
Cant you tell Ive not been in horses that long?
They arent that popular there? Over here they are very popular in western pleasure, hunter classes, and halter. They make the tail fuller, I think they look too ke for my taste but they are pretty common here.
I love imagining them flying off into the air in Working Hunter!
I didnt realise they were so expensive!!! I want one for Shadow! He just looks so sad with his litle eaten off tail! :( :(
Nell got her tail caught on a fence once and took a lot off it. We were showing at a county show and it looked awful so I cut some off Willys which is so thick you could probably make about 5 normal tails from it and sowed it in and youd not notice the difference.
Somebody I know had a horse which had its tail cut off to the end of the dock. They bought a lse tail, and when it was used you wouldnt have known the difference. Expensive, but when looks matter,Horse hairs for violi worth it.
Dont see any other reason for buying.
I suppose they are for people that show?
I have a few of the AQHA magazines and couldnt believe all the adverts for lse tails. Mostly for Quarter horses. Do they have sparse tail hair usually then?
But I dont think anywhere but the UK has real working hunter classes ... people here go gaga when my sister and I tell them about them, mind you we do rather exaggerate things.
Also I think in Europe in general and the UK in particular, there are a lot more breed classes than there are in the US or Oz - both in-hand, showing and performance - where breed standard is (or should be) of HUGE importance, and you cant have artificial things for breed classes, or itd be a total rce.
If theyre put in properly, and are of good quality you normally cant tell the difference. Theres quite a lot of people who dont put them in very well, or they dont shape/cut them down after buying them and then they look rediculously ke.
I remember standing in a line up of a plaited class and suddenly the horse next to me dropped 3 plaits into the grass!!
Theyre pretty common here, although mostly in cerain breed circuits (namely AQHA) and mostly in HUS (hunter under saddle) classes and WP (western pleasure) classes.
I nicked some of Rohs and Mickeys tails for an art project...hmmm took a while to grow back and went through that phase!
